As part of the East-West Festival NRW, which is dedicated to the theme of peace, on October 13, 2023, the British tenor Ian Bostridge and the Belarusian pianist and conductor Rostislav Krimer performed Franz Schubert’s “Winterreise.” Bostridge’s intensive exploration of this cycle of 24 “eerie songs” was demonstrated by his 2015 monograph titled “Schubert’s Winter Journey – Anatomy of an Obsession,” which not only provides detailed insights into the performance but also delves into historical backgrounds.
