Great Masters in the Beethovenhalle I GRIGORY SOKOLOV

02 December
“A monolithic figure in today’s musical world.” — Rondo Magazine

Grigory Sokolov belongs to that rare group of artists whose concerts are far more than mere performances: they become musical events of exceptional intensity. Each appearance forms its own universe, shaped by absolute concentration, profound tonal depth, and an uncompromising devotion to music.

Sokolov’s playing resists fashionable interpretations and superficial effects. Instead, it opens a musical space in which time, form, and sound can be experienced anew. His concerts follow no routine — they are created in the moment and, for that very reason, remain unmistakably unique.

That the programme traditionally remains secret until the very last moment is an integral part of this artistic principle: the audience encounters the music without preconceptions, open to a singular experience that exists only on that evening.

On 2 December, Grigory Sokolov returns to Bonn as part of the East-West-Festival of Rostislav Krimer — an extraordinary concert event at the recently renovated  Beethovenhalle, resonating far beyond the region.

Grigory Sokolov is regarded as one of the most legendary figures in international pianism. Since winning the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1966 at the age of just sixteen, his name has stood for uncompromising artistic integrity, extraordinary tonal refinement, and profound, unmistakable interpretations of the great piano repertoire. His concerts are rare events, awaited worldwide with great anticipation.
On 2 December, Grigory Sokolov will appear in Bonn at the East-West-Festival of Rostislav Krimer for the first time in several decades. The return of this exceptional artist marks a special moment for the city’s musical life. As always, the programme will remain a closely guarded secret until the very last moment — and it is precisely this that heightens the anticipation of a truly unique concert experience.
