Born in Germany to a well-known Russian family of musicians, Alissa Margulis studied violin as a young student in Professor Zakhar Bron’s class at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. Between 2007 and 2011 she studied violin (Pavel Vernikov’s class) and viola (Julian Rachlin’s class) at the Vienna Conservatory. Alissa Margulis graduated in 2011 with a Masters in Violin. Since 2004 she has taken part in international master classes and artist programs, including with Vladimir Spivakov in Zurich, with Augustin Dumay in Brussels, with Pavel Vernikov at the Scuola di Musica Fiesole in Florence and with Salvatore Accardo at the Scuola di Fiesole in Italy.

Alissa Margulis made her first public appearance at the age of seven when she performed with the Budapest Soloists. This was followed by joint concerts with numerous orchestras such as the Belgian National Orchestra, the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Prague Symphony Orchestra and the Oxford Orchestra.

In addition to her solo work, Alissa Margulis is an enthusiastic chamber musician and gives concerts regularly with international artists such as Martha Argerich, Yuri Bashmet, Gidon Kremer and Lars Vogt. She played at the Enescu Festival Bucharest, at the Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival, at the festivals in Tours, Davos and Gstaat, at the Baden-Baden Autumn Festival and many more.
Alissa Margulis has received numerous awards, including the Viotti Vercelli Competition in Italy, the Wieniawski Competition in Poland and the Novosibirsk Violin Competition. Among other things, she received the prize for young artists from the European Foundation for Culture.

Margulis’ discography includes more than a dozen CDs. In the cycle “Martha Argerich and Friends” she plays chamber music and sonatas by Alfred Schnittke, Olivier Messiaen, Dmitri Shostakovich, Astor Piazzolla and many others. Alissa Margulis has been featured on numerous international radio shows and was portrayed in an Arte documentary on the occasion of the Chamber Music Connects The World project.
